The School Project is an idea that started at SJP and blossomed into an unprecedented collaboration among some of Chicago’s most experienced documentary storytellers. The end result: a year-long series of online mini-docs, combined with public events and an active online presence, designed to help foster an informed, civil debate about the state and fate of the Chicago Public Schools.
SJP produced the premiere episode of the series, a look back at William Bennett’s controversial 1987 comment that Chicago’s schools were the “worst” in the nation.
